Countryside Learning Scotland relies on volunteers to enable us to help people to learn about the countryside. Our volunteers come from a variety of countryside backgrounds and possess a wide range of specialist knowledge, which enhances the learning experience. You can volunteer for a one off local opportunity or commit to support on a regular basis.

We require more volunteers to deliver classroom talks in primary and secondary schools across Scotland. Please complete the application form and send to the Event Coordinator if you can help.

Case Study – Countryside Jobs

Douglas Bonn

A primary school in Rosyth got in touch asking us to arrange for a speaker to talk to 10-11 year olds about countryside jobs to complement their topic on local employment opportunities.

Fife based, Douglas is from a rural background, he works with Nickerson as a seed specialist engaging with farmers and estates on a day-to-day basis, he also owns his own farm and has diversified into horse livery. With a friendly manner and passion about reconnecting children with the countryside, Douglas volunteered to help out and delivered a 45 minute talk on countryside vocations to the class of twenty five.
