Every year, thousands of people — young people, adults, community groups, visitors and volunteers — seek opportunities to understand, experience, and participate in rural work and learning.
The Rural Mentor Qualification equips organisations, staff, volunteers, and mentors with the skills, structure, confidence, and commitment required to welcome people safely, responsibly, and positively into rural environments.

We need confident leaders, strong safeguarding practice, safe public engagement, clear pathways for young people and national standards.
Course details
The Rural Mentor Qualification is a 1 day course – 6hrs approx.
The course is delivered in-person by Countryside Learning Scotland.
We can deliver the course all over Scotland – we just require a suitable venue.
Training is blended learning and will include the course group working through scenarios.
Course participants will recieve a Rural Mentor Qualification certificate on completion.
During the course we will cover:

- Preparation for working with groups
- Equipment and Personal Protective Equipment
- Delivering in a rural environment
- Practical delivery skills
- Working with young people
- Becoming an active leader
